While lifestyle changes such the avoidance of smoking and excessive alcohol use can reduce the risk for dementia, aging and genetics remain the greatest risk factors. Unfortunately, the majority of dementia treatments currently available do little to alter the course of this disease.
Research performed over the past several years has revealed new insights into the causes of Alzheimer’s disease, which in turn have led to the development of novel and promising treatment approaches. There are hundreds of studies ongoing worldwide, and researchers are now hopeful of finding treatments that can slow down, stop or, possibly, even prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. If you or a loved one is struggling with Alzheimer’s, please consider helping us in our efforts to end this disease by participating in one of our clinical trials.
